Overall, South Tyrol is a haven for road cyclists, MTB bikers, as well as leisure riders and families. Cycle paths, especially the Etschradroute Cycle Path and the ancient Via Claudia Augusta Roman road follow the green valley bottom along the Etsch/River Adige.

The Etschradroute Cycle Path

Not far from the border with Austria and Switzerland, the panoramic Etschradroute runs from the village of Reschen/Resia past the Reschensee Lake and into the National Park. Passing Burgeis/Burgusio en route to Meran/Merano and the Kalterersee/Lago di Caldaro Lake, there are views of Mals/Malles and its Romanesque churches, the medieval town of Glurns/Glorenza and the marble village of Laas/Lasa.
