The contest is organized by the Stelvio, Gran Paradiso, Abruzzo-Lazio-Molise and Vanoise National Parks with the support of Alparc (Rete delle Aree Protette Alpine - Alpine Network of Protected Areas) and Federparchi. "La Rivista della Natura" is the competition's media partner.
Now in its seventeenth edition, the photo contest "Fotografare il Parco" now represents one of the most eagerly awaited and prestigious events on the international scene. Landscapes, animals and plants of the protected areas become the protagonists in the photos in the competition, which not only denote the high technical ability of the authors, but also imply a marked sensitivity and an unusual ability to observe the natural environment.

The competition is divided into four categories:
- Park Landscape
- Park Wildlife
- Park Microcosmos and Natural Details
- Park Plant World

Cash prizes, stays in the four protected areas and subscriptions to "La Rivista della Natura" Nature Magazin are provided for the overall and category winners.
Two special prizes are also up for grabs: one will be awarded to the image deemed most representative of the interaction between man and nature in the protected areas, while a second will be given to the photograph that best represents, interprets and highlights the ecological-environmental crises that characterize the current period.

Absolute novelty of this edition is the establishment of the People's choice section: anyone will be able to vote, through the contest's instagram channel, for the image they prefer among ten proposed by the international jury. The author of the most voted work will receive, as recognition, a publication of one of the National Parks and an annual subscription to "La Rivista della Natura" Nature Magazin.
Participation in the photo contest is free of charge: each participant may compete in all four categories under the rules with a maximum of four photographs per section.
