The vibrant village of Latsch/Laces lies close to the entrance of the Martelltal/Val Martello Valley in the Stelvio National Park. The characteristic historical town includes various churches and old farmsteads, as well as relics dating back to prehistoric times.

Around Latsch are sprawling apple orchards that extend deep into the valley. At around 600 m, this is where the temperate, Alpine-Mediterranean climate of South Tyrol comes together with the dry, sunny microclimate of the Vinschgau/Val Venosta Valley. Making the most of these ideal fruit-farming conditions, local producers and organic farmers bring their produce to the village. Local bakeries and home-grown meat processing enterprises are known for their home-grown specialities that find their way on to the menus in the village restaurants and cafés.

Besides its rich cultural life, outdoor and leisure activities are also prominent in Latsch, such as are featured at the Aquaforum Sports and Sauna Complex. Mountain bikers and hikers have a well-marked network of trails with numerous rest stops to choose from, where fresh farm produce and regional specialties are served. The Etsch Cycle Route along the Via Claudia Augusta in the valley leads from Reschen/Resia and Mals/Malles to Meran/Merano, and is a well-frequented route for cyclists of all ages.
