As a signatory to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas, the Stelvio National Park is committed to responsibility, dialogue and cooperation.
Following the 2019-2023 period with an extension for 2024 and 2025 as a member of the Charter network, we are now striving to renew the Charter for the period 2026-2030 and are actively working towards this goal.
On 24 February 2026, the Stelvio National Park’s Coordination and Steering Committee approved the Strategy and the Action Plan. Both are the outcome of an eight‑month participatory process involving stakeholders from the Autonomous Province of Bolzano–South Tyrol, the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Lombardy Region.

Evaluation Committee Decision - AWARDED! 😊
On 18 September 2026, the EUROPARC Council approved the ECST Evaluation Committee decision to award the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas to the Stelvio National Park. The award recognises an ongoing process of sustainable tourism development in cooperation with a wide range of local partners and stakeholders.
It is awarded for periods of five years.
The EUROPARC Federation congratulates the Stelvio National Park on its work in the field of sustainability and on its commitment to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas.
The ECST award ceremony will take place on 9 December at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels.
