As a signatory to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas, the Stelvio National Park is committed to responsibility, dialogue and cooperation.
Following the 2019-2023 period with an extension for 2024 and 2025 as a member of the Charter network, we are now striving to renew the Charter for the period 2026-2030 and are actively working towards this goal.

On 24 February 2026, the Stelvio National Park’s Coordination and Steering Committee approved the Strategy and the Action Plan. Both are the outcome of an eight‑month participatory process involving stakeholders from the Autonomous Province of Bolzano–South Tyrol, the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Lombardy Region.

The next steps in the application process
In June 2026, an evaluator will visit the site to meet with a number of stakeholders involved in sustainable measures. The Europarc Federation’s procedure for renewing the European Charter will be completed in autumn 2026; if the outcome is positive, the certificate will be presented at a ceremony in Brussels.
