PROGRAMME
Permanent Exhibition: "In Martell in mein Tol"

The Martelltal/Val Martello Valley is strongly influenced by the local tradition of mountain farming. The hard existence of the mountain farmers is presented in this exhibition through stories of the local inhabitants concerning the laborious work in the mountains. The centerpiece of the exhibition is the parlour, as in everyday rural life and culture. The customs, popular beliefs and religious rituals which formed the response of the mountain farmers to the forces of nature are numerous and sometimes obscure. An archaeological find (a full handled dagger dating to the Early Bronze Age) from the Upper Martelltal Valley shows the importance of the area already at that time for summer grazing and local trade.
