The Stelvio National Park is firmly anchored in the Terra Raetica area - the border area between Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

Once home to Rhaetian tribes, the region is today characterized by the original natural and cultural landscape in which there are several protected areas. In addition to the four nature reserves of Texelgruppe, Kaunergrat, Ötztal and Biosfera Val Müstair there are the Swiss and the Stilfserjoch National Parks which are connected to Natura Raetica network.

The Terra Raetica project aims to promote cross-border cooperation and closer links between the participating regions and countries within the Terra Raetica area. The working group of Natura Raetica has jointly developed the Info Pass Natura Raetica. The info pass allows reduced admission costs to all five visitor centres of the Stelvio National Park the remainder of the centres.within the four nature reserves and the Swiss National Park. Access to all the park areas is free.

Another project is the Natura Raetica Academy, which has been exchanging ideas and knowledge for three years and which, has also arranged further training of schools and tourism organisations in respect of the protected areas.

At each of the Visitor Centre’s wooden sign posts have been installed giving directions to the adjacent nature reserves.
