Extending from Latsch/Laces at 950 m to the Cevedale Glacier at 3,769 m, the Martelltal/Val Martello Valley hosts one of the most diverse microcosms in the Stelvio National Park. With its pure mountain air and pristine environment, this tranquil side valley is renowned for its native fauna and flora. The multimedia culturamartell Visitor Centre in the Martelltal illustrates the history of farming in the high mountains.

Premium quality strawberries are farmed in the Martelltal Valley and are grown at altitudes varying from 900 m to 1,800 m – the highest altitudes for perennial strawberry farming in Europe. The climatic conditions in the Martelltal Valley are also ideal for the cultivation of other kinds of top-quality berries, a variety of vegetables and numerous herbs.
