The avimundus Visitor Centre in the Schlanders/Silandro pedestrian zone provides general information about the Stelvio National Park, with the emphasis on the birdlife of the region.

For example, visitors can find out about the significance of different birdsongs and how various avian species have adapted to their environment. Visitors are also introduced to the scientific research being conducted in the National Park, culminating in the successful return of the bearded vulture to its native habitat.

Chosen species are presented according to habitats. Visitor will receive interesting information about breeding and rearing, the importance of the bird’s voice, as well as its song as part of a bird’s life. A multi-media presentation introduces visitors to regular breeding birds in South Tyrol. Simple experiments tell the story about the laws of aerodynamics. Then, visitor can test their know-how about the world of birds or alternatively, go into more detail if they are interested.
