In protected nature reserves like the Stelvio National Park in the Ortler Alps of South Tyrol, the most important resource is pristine nature. The area guarantees the protection of its fauna and flora as well as the preservation of the natural landscape as a whole. In order to meet their proclaimed target in the future, the communities of the Stelvio National Park seeks to develop into a model region for sustainability in the Alps. Striving for real environmental protection is well worth the effort, which is why the "Tourism and Agricultural Development in the Stelvio National Park" initiative was launched in the first place.

Within the framework of this initiative, hotels, holiday apartments, guest houses, camping sites, and Farm Holiday in the Stelvio National Park with accommodations that place ecological and social management as well as sustainability criteria at the forefront are awarded. Such businesses not only serve to exemplify the ideal role model but they also make a real and important contribution to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of South Tyrol.

The "Sustainable Business" award is given by IDM South Tyrol in collaboration with the Stelvio National Park Office.
