High mountain trail around the Ortler mountain in the Stelvio National Park
The Ortler High Mountain Trail is one of the most demanding hiking trails in the Alps. The 119,5 km long trail consists of a total of 7 daily stages taking 6–8 hours each on the Lombard and South Tyrol sides. Parts of the trail climb to over 3,000 metres above sea level. Enjoy the magnificent Alpine scenery on this mountain trail through the heart of the Stelvio National Park. Duration: seven daily stages á 6-8 hours Difference in height and descent: ca. 8.126 hm Ideal time: June to September Level of difficulty: The Ortler High Mountain Trail leads between 1,300 and almost 3,300 meters above sea level, continues through high mountain terrain with glacier passages and is recommended to experienced mountaineers.
Attention: Due to the danger of rockfall, the section between "Ponte Forni - Lago di Cancano" on the stage 6 is closed until cancelled. The detour leads via the trail nr. 199.
